It is a Gulf Organization operating under the umbrella of the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf (GCC), which aims to unify various standardization activities and monitor their implementation and adherence with in cooperation and coordination with national standardization bodies in member states, thereby contributing to the development of their productive and service sectors and trade among them, as well as protecting consumers, the environment, and public health. It also promotes Gulf industries, products, and services to support the Gulf economy, preserve the gains of the GCC States, and contribute to reducing technical barriers to trade in line with the objectives of the Customs Union.
